A Letterform [B] Exploration: Inspired by The Hive, NTU
This 3D typography project reinterprets the architectural essence of The Hive, NTU, through a sculptural letterform. The design draws from the building’s distinctive stacked, organic structure, integrating both intrusion and extrusion to create depth and dimension. The layered forms mirror the verticality of The Hive’s terraced pods, while recessed details echo the negative spaces within its façade, emphasising spatial contrast.
Crafted from blue foam, putty, and sandpaper, the final piece captures the balance between the building’s curvilinear softness and geometric precision. By playing with light and shadow, the form enhances its interplay between solid mass and void, much like The Hive’s dynamic presence in space.
A Typographic [R] Exploration: The Guide to a Proposal
This bi-fold zine reimagines the letter R as a central visual and conceptual element in the act of proposing. Through illustration and typography, the zine transforms the letterform into the silhouette of a person on one knee, holding up a ring—symbolising the defining moment of a proposal.
Beyond its illustrative function, this zine explores how typography can embody narrative and meaning. The letter R is not just a character but a visual metaphor, integrated into the composition to enhance storytelling. The zine also outlines the essential elements of a proposal, blending type, form, and illustration to create an engaging and playful typographic experience.
